Summit Roofing is an independent, family run business with over 20 years’ experience in the roofing and construction industry. We pride ourselves on providing high quality work with specialist knowledge for myriad properties in both residential and commercial sectors, covering all ages of building.
We take pride in our attention to detail and are experts in leadwork which means the smallest of jobs from gutter trims to chimney flashing, whether you can see it or not, is guaranteed to be laid and dressed perfectly. We feel that it should look beautiful as well as being functional.
With our expertise in lead work we take on a lot of contracts for churches and listed buildings. Due to the age of many of the properties there is always the need for repair and upkeep. Any leadwork undertaken on these prestigious buildings can be treated with official SmartWater* to act as a deterrent against theft.
We constantly strive to improve our knowledge and grow with the industry as new materials and technologies come onto the open market. We regularly attend training courses to make sure we cover all aspects of roofing conforming to current British Standard legislation and health and safety standards.

We hold all relevant insurance for your peace of mind – full public liability and employer’s liability insurance, including for hot works.

We also hold a ‘Certificate of Registration under the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011’ so you can be assured that we will dispose of all the waste from our job legally and responsibly.
OTHER ROOFING WORKS
We take on all manner of works. Once up the ladders, we can easily clean gutters, soffits and fascia’s.
We will also do repointing works where needed, especially chimneys which take the worst of the weather.
Lead work is a speciality of ours and we take pride in making sure all the leadwork and dressing is done to perfection. It may seem an insignificant part to many but it is integral to making sure the joins are watertight. It’s also a key part to the finished look so we are adamant that it has to be right.
SURVEYS AND INSURANCE
We will happily look at the roof of a property you are looking to buy and cost up the works in a clear manner. We can also break it down into individual areas so that you can look at the works needed with the sellers and discuss. If you decide to go ahead with the works after purchasing the property, we will deduct the price of the survey from your bill.
We will happily quote for insurance purposes and advise what would work best for your claim.

OUR HISTORY
Summit Roofing, as a new company, was started in 2016 but it originated from SJB Roofing which started over 20 years ago.
Simon Bowller kindly took Mark Axten under his wing when Mark left university and needed a job quickly to keep his mum happy!
It soon became clear that Mark had an aptitude for the design and mathematics involved with roofing and that he also had the obligatory head for heights that is a non-negotiable requirement for this job!
Over the years Mark became a key member of the team and proficient enough to run jobs on his own. He then progressed to being able to go out and take first look and run estimations and costing as well.
When Simon decided it was time for him to down tools the logical option was for Mark to buy the business. With only a couple of personal touches such as the name change we have been able to take a well established and highly respected business in the trade and keep it running smoothly. Always with the same high end and professional workmanship that Mark has spent the last 20 years training under.
OUR PEOPLE
Our team is small but efficient.
Mark Axten is the owner and main man on the tiles. He works along side his trusted labourer and the pair of them carry out all work that is needed like a well oiled machine.
We are members of the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and are trained in ‘Emergency First Aid at Work’ by the Red Cross.
